RUSTIC MORNINGS ♥

When in Manila and discovering one-of-a-kind restaurants, then Rustic Mornings by Isabelo is one of the places you should go to.

I have found Rustic Mornings by Isabelo as a precious gem hidden in the homely locale of Marikina. Founded by Ms. Portia Dee-Baluyut, an advertising agent-turned-chef, the restaurant remains to be a sanctuary of heartwarming breakfast food with a rural ambience and knickknacks of beautiful, organized clutter.

EGGS FOR BREAKFAST ♥

This cozy cafe is a hidden gem located inside the Velada Estate and Events Place in Villa Cecilia Subdivision, Brgy. Mambugan, Rizal. It’s in the lower Antipolo / Marikina boundary and makes a good pitstop for bikers or riders heading to Sumulong Highway. Parking is secure and there’s space to accommodate cars as well as smaller vehicles. Bikers can bring in and park their bikes in the compound.

EARTH KITCHEN ♥

Earth Kitchen is a restaurant dedicated to support local farmers and indigenous communities around the Philippines. Our dishes are specifically crafted to showcase the produce of the Got Heart Farms in Tarlac and our partner communities from Luzon to Mindanao.

Earth Kitchen is a partnership project of Got Heart Foundation and Hizon’s Catering. Because of your support, the Got Heart Shops and Earth Kitchen now have more than 100 community partners. Hopefully, we can partner with 100 more by the end of 2014.

By increasing demand for organic and natural produce, we hope to sustan the livelihood of marginalized communities and encourage more farmers to produce good, clean, healthy food – without the use of genetically-modified organisms (GMO’s), chemicals, synthetic fertilizers and harmful inputs like petroleum-based urea, herbicides and pesticides.

Almost everything we serve is made from scratch. We make the pasta, ice cream, tortilla, risotto, and soups in our kitchen. By doing so, we get to serve you the freshest ingredients and also source more natural ingredients locally.

THE FRAZZLED COOK ♥

The Frazzled Cook, a resto we’ve always loved, was once located in Luna Mencias (Shaw Blvd area). In spite of it being hard to find, we’d always go there because we really loved the food and the ambiance of the place. It was homey; it was quiet; it was just the place to hang out whenever you wanted to chill in the metro.

BAG OF BEANS  ♥

Located in Tagaytay City in the province of Cavite, Bag of Beans is a coffee shop and restaurant rolled into one. Although it doesn’t have the Taal volcano factor used by many to lure customers, Bag of Beans has its own means of attracting people -it’s aroma. Who wouldn’t be drawn to a smell of freshly brewed coffee? Aside from that the place also has a very rustic feel which is mixed with a nature and provincial atmosphere.

CAFE VOI_LA ♥

Their menu is diverse with all day breakfast on the other while classic Filipino with Thai twist mains, to pastas, pizzas, they even have beers and coffees and shakes, pad thai, salads. Can’t even name them all.

Now about their food … I’ll have to start with the Special Senator’s Salad which is of big serving. This salad has this dressing I can’t quite figure out but it complimented the shrimps, salmon and cheese and mushrooms. I like how it’s not only greens and your typical salad into this bowl. Then we had their version of Kare-Kare. We all liked their Kare-Kare because it’s different from the usual Filipino Kare-Kare. Their peanut is different, it’s as if they used natural peanut for it and cooked that separately prior adding to the ox tail and beef. Their vegetables are are stirred fry so you can be assured that they’re flavorful on its own and still crunchy. Ohh and their bagoong, it has that perfect saltiness on it.
